as SUPERMILK, there is little doubt that i am the world's most superior artist. yet, you will see the art of mister robert crumb in most areas of this site.

There is a good reason for this. and first and foremost, i make this page because i want no confusion as to my intent. I do not use crumb's art to be lazy or thieving. i use it, well, mostly for the purposes of getting laid. But also because of its significance in my life.

I was born during the height of america's counterculture era, in the late sixties. I grew up in the home of young people who were very much "Hippies" as they say, especially in my early years. In fact, i marveling over crumb's work at only about six or seven years old. while it wasn't easy to learn how to read completely stoned, because of my ultra-creamy genetic makeup, i did it. And I read those comix over and over and over again.

I live in a different world now, than the one in which i grew up. still, in some ways it is the same. there is still war and greedy, soul-dead rulers, inane societal pressures and hypocritical expectations, as well as women with huge, delicious breasts, which sort of makes most of that all right. sadly, though, there is no strong counterculture. Just hordes of comfortable people ignoring the perversity of our times, or hordes of others suffering at the hands of it—and quietly. this is far more unsettling to me than the art of crumb or any other artists of the time. in fact, i celebrate the anti-establishment, counter-culture, perverse and outrageous art of the time period, and crumb was one of my major influences. as was the entire time period. I admit some of his art is racist and some is misogynist, and as with most artists, he is, no doubt, a flawed human. but his style is unique, his place in history secure, he represents a certain brave segment of humanity that would not pretend to play along with a corrupt system, and his comix provide better wank-imagery than penthouse any day.

janis joplin albumultimately, there is no other artist that exists that could better (or accurately at all) portray my artistic origins, my early home life, the world in which i first took notice, and the absurb and subversive tone of this blog. if i were ordered to take his art down, i would do so without any hesitation. but then, i would have to take a break blogging and recreate it in my own style, and by hand, because there is no other look for this blog. i hope i am forgiven for taking certain liberties with some of it, as i have added lettering and edited the word-balloons on the front page art, as well as added a bright new direction to our friend the lightbulb. i urge everyone who enjoys this blog and the art you see here to invest in crumb's work. and i ask the crumb family to please understand. and return my calls, already. I'm out again!

you can exhale now, mister clinton—
